Foster the Need is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on meeting the needs of foster and kinship youth and families. Our mission is driven by the overwhelming (and growing) need within Howard County and beyond. We need support to bring our mission to life!
Indiana is home to nearly 31,000 children in foster care and has the fourth-highest rate of youth in foster care in the nation. The state’s approximately 17,000 school-age foster youth are found across schools of all sizes and in communities of all types, but about 10% of the public-school corporations educate almost half of Indiana’s students in foster care.
Foster children need stability, support, a voice, and most importantly a sense of personal belonging and self-worth. Having the opportunity to change the trajectory of a child’s life and support the foster/kinship family during the foster process is a significant and rewarding opportunity indeed.
