The Need
The Need
At any given time, there are close to 500,00 children in foster care across the United States.
Indiana is home to nearly 31,000 children in foster care and has the nation’s fourth-highest rate of youth in foster care. Howard County has the most CHINS (children in need of service) of any county in the region. The need is constantly evolving and growing with children in need of service ranging from newborns through school-age and teenage youth.

Foster children need stability, support, a voice, and most importantly a sense of personal belonging and self-worth. Having the opportunity to change the trajectory of a child’s life and support the foster/kinship family during the foster process is a significant and rewarding opportunity indeed.
We believe that anyone who comes through our doors has been through enough. More than simply providing resources and relief, Foster the Need seeks to address the underlying emotional challenges inherent in the foster/kinship process.
